เหตุการณ์ชวนขนลุกของ The Vatican Tapes ถ่ายทอดผ่านเทปบันทึกพิธีกรรมไล่ผีที่หลุดจากนครรัฐวาติกัน เมื่อบาทหลวง 2 รูปต้องให้การช่วยเหลือหญิงสาวนามว่า แองเจล่า โฮมส์ ที่ถูกปีศาจร้ายเข้าครอบงำ แต่สิ่งที่พวกเขาไม่คาดคิดคือพลังของปีศาจร้ายที่รุนแรงเกินกว่าจะต้านทาน
สาเหตุจากตัวเธอเอง บาทหลวงประจำท้องที่ โลซาโน (ไมเคิล เปญา) จึงเข้ามาตรวจหาความผิดปกติของแองเจลาและเชื่อว่าเธอถูกวิญญาณร้ายสิ่งสู่ วิคาร์ไอมานี (ไจมอน ฮอนซู) และ ท่านคาร์ดินัลบรันน์ (ปีเตอร์ แอนเดอรส์สัน) จึงเดินทางจากวาติกันมาไล่ผีให้ และตอนนั้นเองที่พวกเขารู้ว่าวิญญาณร้ายที่ครองร่างแองเจลาอยู่นั้นคือปีศาจร้ายจากโบราณกาลที่มีพลังชั่วร้ายเกินกว่าที่พวกเขาจะคาดถึง
